Resorts
Varna...
Commonly referred to as Bulgaria's sea capital.
Varna is the normal arrival airport for the northern black sea resorts.
This is the second largest city in Bulgaria, with a population of approximately 300,000.
It has something for everyone - a beach, plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, discos, places of historial interest.
There is also the famous sea garden which stretches for 4km and houses a zoo, aquarium, Dolphinarium, museum and an open air theatre.
You will find the shop and restaurant prices in Varna compare very favourably to the more famous resorts resorts such as Golden Sands.
Buses between Golden Sands and Varna are frequent, at time of writing any bus with a number ending in 9 can be used for the journey e.g. 109,209,309,409.
It is a city of much variation, it has lovely parts, notably the sea garden and an attractive pedestrianised shopping street, there are lots of nice modern apartments becoming available
but there are also a lot of giant communist style apartment blocks in the suburbs.
Beware of unscrupulous taxi drivers who will gladly charge double fare as soon as they realise you are a tourist, our advice is to agree a fare in advance.
Overall a nice place to stay or visit.
